Skylar Haywood, MA, LMHCA

Therapy with me is a place that will validate your identity, emotions, and experiences. It is a safe place for you to be yourself and to share your emotions and experiences without fear of judgement.

I primarily use person-centered and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) as my main methods of treatment for therapy. In therapy we will  explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and the relationship between them. I work with you to increase your understanding of each of these elements and their relationship, and through this it can identify specific skills and tools we can use to help you address your specific concerns.

I also am able to use EMDR, a type of therapy developed for treatment of trauma. This type of treatment allows an individual to process traumatic/ negative past experiences that contribute to their present problems.

I see teens and adults for individual counseling, and I have experience working with issues including grief, anxiety, depression, boundary issues, and trauma. Also, I am an LGBTQ+ affirming therapist and I can provide affirming therapy and therapy that addresses LGBTQ+ specific concerns.

Therapy involves needing to shape treatment to best fit the individual. I value recognizing the uniqueness of each individual and their healing journeys. These journeys can be difficult and involve many twists and turns. I’m here to be with you for that journey, regardless of what it looks like.
